HEPA-Certified Canister Vacuums

As with all well engineered devices, the pure genius of its successful operation is found in its inherent detail.  Over the past seven decades, Miele engineers and quality control groups have work tirelessly to design a vacuum cleaner that does all of its inherent tasks, without polluting your home’s indoor air quality.

Well, they have succeeded.  The latest generation of Miele vacuums is the first ever to hold HEPA certification for both the vacuum cleaner and the HEPA filter cartridge together.  Additionally, Miele now introduces the IntensiveClean dustbag that takes vacuum cleaner filtration to a whole new level.

Miele achieved another “First Ever” with the introduction of their S 500 / S 600 series vacuums.  Both series were awarded a certification by the DMT Air Quality Testing Institute, and independent institute that monitors air hygiene, where by the S 500 / S 600 canister vacuum series were rated “excellent air quality,” conforming to the new stringent European standard for filtration (EN 1822).  This certification refers to Miele’s HEPA filter and the vacuum cleaner working as a sealed system.

Miele’s engineers have crafted an airtight dust chamber, with rubber gaskets, to ensure that the air passes through the final exhaust filter and is not leaked out.  So, when using a Miele canister with the HEPA filter, 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns (this is 1/200^th the width of a strand of human hair) and larger are captured and retained in the vacuum.

A Miele HEPA filter solves the problem allergy sufferers face each time they vacuum – airborne dust stirred up by vacuuming.  These particles can actually stay airborne for hours.  The filter not only captures and retains tiny particles (including dust, dust mite feces and pollen) it also uses a Generally Activated Charcoal filter (GAC) to absorb odors.  Because of its advanced design, A Miele HEPA filter only needs to replaced after 50 hours of use, or after approximately 12 months.

Enhanced filtration

A Miele innovation to reflect our technological progress: The IntensiveClean dustbag.  Thanks to its intricate web of special three-ply random-spun fibers, far more tiny particles and allergens are retained than with conventional paper dust bags.  This alone accounts for a reduction in dust emissions of up to 50% (in combination with Super Air Clean Filter), based on levels that are already extremely low.

Improved suction power

Miele vacuum cleaners are recognized internationally by testing facilities, consumers for providing superior suction performance, even when the paper dustbags are full.  The new “intelligent” random-spun fiber is the key: This material retains millions of tiny dust particles and holds them tight in its labyrinth of filaments, keeping the pores on the surface of the dustbag open longer, and this retaining the vacuum’s excellent suction performance.

Easy disposal

Handling the dust bag is, as before, simple and hygienic.  Equipped with the tired-and-tested dustbag shutter, the bag automatically seals its upon removal from the holder.  Dust and dirt remain within the dustbag and cannot billow out.  Disposal of the IntensiveClean dustbag is not a problem either: It can be simply placed in the trash together with domestic refuse.
